What's the summer season?
The Summer Season can start as early as May and stretch into early October, but the lift system (often a good guide to the popularity of the month) normally opens early/mid June and closes mid September.
What are the advantages of Morzine?
Morzine is a both beautiful traditional towns with an excellent selection summer activities and is part of the huge Portes Du Soleil ski area, one of the best and most varied summer domains in the world with 450km of walking and biking trails - 12 French and Swiss resorts all available on one lift pass (no passports required), with a modern hands-free lift system.
Suits all levels of walkers and riders.
Only 60 – 75 minutes drive from Geneva making transfer times very bearable and the closest alpine resort to the UK.
What's the weather like?
In May, you’ll need a warm coat in the evenings, but June can be very warm. July and August have an average daytime temperature of 25-30 deg C (but you still may need a light sweater for the evenings). September is very like June. Remember that in the mountains, the weather can change very quickly, so never venture far from your base without adequate warm and waterproof clothing – and always let someone know where you are going.
How do you get there?
Easyjet from London Gatwick and Liverpool to Geneva (one hour). Summer Morzine will arrange transfer to the resort or car hire.
For self-drive Summer Morzine can advise on the best deals with Euro-Tunnel or Sea France. Morzine is eight hours driving time from Calais.
What's the accommodation?
Summer Morzine offers a huge range of over 200 different properties. Choose from luxury or traditional hotels, cosy catered chalets, self-catering apartments, chalets and studios.
What time can we arrive at our accommodation?
In chalets and hotels you can arrive any time after 10am, although the rooms will not normally be ready until about 2pm due to cleaning. You can access your apartment after 4pm although sometimes we can offer bag storage during the day and on sometimes we can get you in earlier.
What time must we leave by on departure day?
In hotels and chalets you must be packed and out of your room by 10am. Apartment guests must leave the apartment clean and tidy by 9am.
What about children?
There are excellent facilities for children in Morzine. Summer Morzine can arrange for British-managed childcare facilities. Children can visit The Dereches Farm in the forest where they can feed and take care of the animals like sheep, pigs and ponies. See families and children and off the mountain
Do I need to take Swiss money to the Swiss resorts?
You don’t have to worry about changing up Swiss money. All restaurants and bars accept Euros although some will give change for notes in Swiss francs
Do I need to bring my own towels and linen?
When booking in to catered accommodation, all linen and towels are provided. In self catered apartment you must bring your own linen and towels unless you hire from us for £15 per person per week.
Do I need to pay tourist tax?
We cover all local tourist taxes.
Do I need to bring a photo for my lift pass?
You only have to bring a photo if you need a lift pass for more than 6 days.
Where is the medical centre?
Opposite the tourist office in Morzine you can find Doctor Julienne, or there is Doctor Phillipe opposite the L'Etale restaurant where there is an English doctor this year.
Where can I get internet access from?
You can go to CyberStyle which is just opposite Intersport, or the tourist office also has internet access.
Where are the best places to go out to at night?
There are a number of bars to go to in Morzine. The Cavern bar is lively and good for a "cheesy" night out. Upstairs in the Buddha Café there are nice leather sofas to relax on and more easy music to listen to. Then there is the Dixie Bar, which shows all sporting events on satellite TV and has the nice feeling of an English pub! Whatever you like, there is something for everyone.
Do you cater for vegetarians and other dietary requirements?
Yes we do but please let us know in advance so we can shop accordingly.
