T'ai Chi Morzine
Friday 8thTuesday - 12th August 2008
De-stress and re-charge your mind, body and spirit with a long weekend of tranquil T’ai Chi practise in the French Alps.
This is an extended weekend break dedicated to refreshing and renewing your vitality and zest for life and you’ll return from your holiday super-charged and calmer mentally perhaps than you’ve been for years.
T'ai Chi (Taiji) is an ancient Chinese exercise for health and longevity as well as a soft-style martial art sometimes known as Long River boxing. It was developed many hundreds of years ago by a Taoist priest of the Sung dynasty named Chang San Feng.
Stillness, movement and martial art
T’ai Chi is often thought of as a practise of moving meditation, or practising stillness while in motion. To start with, you’ll learn to experience your mind at a deeper level by practising seated and standing meditation, against a backdrop of breathtaking beauty that will revitalise your spirit and relieve you of all pressures and anxiety.
You will learn how to breathe from your lower abdomen, giving you more energy and restoring well-being to your nervous and immune systems.
You will also learn postures and core sequences from the Yang Long Form – a traditional style of T’ai Chi and one of the most popular exercises in the world today – including the martial application of the movements, which will give you a greater understanding of how to develop the right mind-set for your practise.
Please note there will some partner exercises, but remember that T’ai Chi is a gentle art and therefore all contact with a partner will be performed in a slow and controlled manner, simply to give you an understanding of T’ai Chi as a form of self-defence.
The activity holiday is for anyone at any level of T’ai Chi practise. From complete beginner to advanced practitioner, there will be something for everyone on this unique long weekend break.
